What data we collect

Park4Weather collects minimal data to provide its services:

Account data — If you register, we store your name, email address, and a hashed password. Your password is never stored in plain text.
User content — Comments, ratings, photos, stories, and spot edits you submit are stored and displayed publicly.
Favorites — If logged in, your saved favorite spots are stored on our server.

Cookies and local storage

We use the following cookies and local storage:

p4w_token (cookie) — Authentication token for keeping you logged in. Only set when you register or log in. Expires after 1 year.
p4w_visited (localStorage) — Remembers that you've visited before, so we don't show the welcome screen again.
p4w_cookies (localStorage) — Stores your cookie consent choice.
p4w_lang (localStorage) — Remembers your language preference.

We do not use any tracking cookies, analytics services, or advertising cookies.

Third-party services

Park4Weather uses the following external services:

OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap's tile servers. Their privacy policy applies.
Open-Meteo — Weather forecast data. Requests are made from our server, not your browser. Terms.
Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) — Reverse geocoding for place names. Requests may be made from your browser.

Data storage

All data is stored on our own servers. We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent at any time

Data deletion

You can delete your account by contacting us. This will remove your account data, favorites, and stories. Comments and spot edits may be retained as community contributions but will be anonymized.
